dead anyway by joxn

the sun is shining for the first time since months
it's spring
the tree is small, but growing
young and hopeful next to the path
a small bud is fighting, a leaflet is born

the days are warm and bright
it's summer
the tree is still growing
big and strong next to the way
the leaflet becomes a leaf

the happy days in the sun are over
it's autuum
the tree is leaning against wind and storm
wise and old next to the street
the leaf turns yellow

the days are cold and snowy
it's winter
the tree is cut down by settlers to keep 'em warm
dying next to the highway
the leaf falls down and becomes dust

why grow if you die anyway?
